MUSQUODOBIT: Most people refer to Prom as the most memorable night of their lives. This may very well be the case with MRHS graduate Cassidy Tully, who has a truly unique date for her prom. Christian Millette, a dancer from the fourth season of ‘So You Think You Can Dance: Canada’ (SYTYCD) has asked Tully to her prom.
It all started at the “I Dance” convention in Montreal that Tully attended alongside her best friend, and her instructor Jocelyne Hope. They were out to dinner one evening with the contestants from SYTYCD, when Hope made a joke to Millette about taking Tully to her prom.
“He just kinda laughed it off,” said Tully. “He’s from Montreal, so it would be a long way to come just for my prom.”
Little did Tully know, that after the restaurant encounter, Hope started emailing Millette with the intention of getting her a date. With a bit of luck, and some emails, it turns out that Millette was going to be in Nova Scotia around the same time as Tully’s prom; so he agreed to come to her prom.
“I was floored.” Said Tully about when she received the email from Millette. “He said he agreed to come to my prom with me – that he couldn’t wait to come, and that he’ll see me then.”
When asked how she felt about her date, Tully said with a laugh, “I’m a bit intimidated, but I’m excited too; but I’m mostly excited.”
Surprisingly, Tully hasn’t received much attention at school about her date.
“It’s kinda been quiet – I haven’t really said much about it.” Said Tully. “People know, and they think it’s kind of cool. Something like that has never really happened at our school, so it’s cool and different.”
Tully wasn’t even planning to go to her prom before the invite from Millette; though it didn’t take her too long after the invite to change her mind about attending.
“People from SYTYCD are my idols, because dancing is basically my life,” said Tully. “They’re my celebrities, so it’s awesome. I’m very excited.”
