Lantz residents say no to new building

The Lantz Fire Department, along with concerned Lantz residents, took one final kick at the can at East Hants Council last week to acquire the old school property for a future department.
Paul Mombourquette, a business owner in Lantz, has taken it upon himself to circulate a petition within the community gathering names of residents who would like to see the fire department granted the land at the school property. On June 16 Mombourquette presented council with a new offer.
“If we could get any further site-specific talks delayed for a month, I feel if we had time to approach Shaw's and ask them if they would be willing to donate to the fire department a piece of land which would be large enough to support the new municipal building then maybe we would take it off the site of the Lantz school and plop it on a piece of land they would give us,” he said.
