LANTZ: The East Hants Junior Penguins might be down, but their not out. With the need to win and win now ever so present if they want to make the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoffs, four different goal-scorers found the back of the net for the Pens in a 5-3 win over the Brookfield Elks Feb. 2, in Brookfield. Shane Piercey led the way with two goals and an assist with single tallies came from Mark Power, Marc Thibodeau and Ryan Mitchell. Power and Cory Pettipas each contributed two assists, while Randy Gilbert, Chris Pongoski and Tyson Aalders each had one helper apiece. Matt Pongoski made 39 of 42 saves in picking up the win, which moves the Pens to within a point of the Windsor Royals for the last playoff position. The two teams are scheduled for their first of two meetings in the next seven days Friday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m., in Windsor. phealey@enfieldweeklypress.com
