EAST HANTS: Enfield RCMP responded to 74 complaints between Jan. 28 and Feb. 5.

- Police received a report of damage to property Jan. 28, at 6:10 a.m., from Highway 214, in Elmsdale. The complainant reported their cell phone had been smashed at the Irving.

- RCMP responded to a report of an erratic driver in Shubenacadie on Jan. 29, at 12:39 a.m. The caller informed police they saw a vehicle driving dangerously on the road. Police made a patrol and located the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was seized and the driver, a young offender, is facing three charges related to the motor vehicle act.

- Police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 102, near Enfield, at 5:26 a.m., on Jan. 29. The people involved only suffered minor injuries.

- A single-vehicle collision on Highway 14, near the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal location in Milford, was called into police at 12:20 p.m. on Jan. 29. The lone occupant didn’t suffer any injuries in the mishap.

- RCMP had their fill of calls relating to vehicles in the ditch as a result of road conditions. They included a 5:01 p.m. call on Jan. 29, near Exit 8, in Elmsdale. No injuries resulted in the incident, which police say occurred after the vehicle hit some ice on the road. At 5:16 p.m., police responded to a single-vehicle collision near Exit 10. There were no injuries in the collision. At 6:17 p.m., police received a call about a car off the road on Highway 102, between Exit 7 and 8. No injuries resulted.

Four hours later at 10:04 p.m., on Jan 29, RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 14, in Upper Nine Mile River. No injuries resulted in the collision, which only caused property damage. The collisions didn’t end there, as police responded to a vehicle in the ditch near Exit 10, in Shubenacadie, at 8:36 a.m., on Jan. 30.

A short time later, police were at the scene of a cube van that slid off the road on Highway 102, in Shubenacadie. In the 8:57 a.m., incident, the highway was temporarily shut down to allow for the vehicle to be put back on its four wheels. At 12:21 p.m., police were back in Shubenacadie, for yet another vehicle collision, which resulted in no injuries.

- A complaint of shoplifting was reported to police Jan. 30, from the Elmsdale Sobeys, at 12:29 p.m. The suspect was caught stealing a bottle of Neutrogena, worth $6. No charges will be laid, but the male has been served with a Protection of Property Act.

- Police were back at the scene of another single-vehicle collision Jan. 30, at 12:27 p.m., along Highway 102, in Shubenacadie. A PT Cruiser had slid off the road due to weather conditions.

- At 4:16 p.m., RCMP were sent racing to a three-vehicle collision along Highway 102 between Milford and Shubenacadie Jan. 30. One vehicle had hit some ice and spun; the second vehicle ran into the first vehicle, which originally was undamaged. The third vehicle went into the median as the driver applied its brakes to avoid the two other vehicles. Only minor injuries were suffered in the mishap.

- RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision along Highway 102, near Exit 8, Jan. 31, at 3:46 a.m. Upon their arrival, the 22-year-old male driver showed signs of impairment and has subsequently been charged with impaired driving.

- Police received a report of two all-terrain vehicles driving on the road in Maitland on Jan. 31, at 1:40 p.m. A patrol was made, however the suspect vehicles were not located.

- Weather conditions contributed to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 215, in South Maitland on Feb. 2. The 9:53 a.m. incident saw neither occupant of the vehicles involved suffer any injuries.

- RCMP received a complaint from the Maitland and District Volunteer Fire Department on Feb. 2, at 11:17 a.m. The fire department informed police a motorist disobeyed the traffic control officer’s signals at a fire scene and proceeded to drive through, despite being signalled that the scene was off limits. Police say charges are pending against the motorist for failure to obey a traffic officer. The matter remains under investigation.

- One driver has been charged following a two-vehicle collision on the MacDonald Road, in Shubenacadie Feb. 3. The 7:46 a.m., incident saw one charged with failure to properly make a left turn at an intersection. No injuries resulted in the mishap.

- Police responded to a disturbance at Hants East Rural High School, in Milford Feb. 4, at 1:22 p.m. Police removed a student from the school. The male youth is facing charges of breaching court-imposed conditions. “We’re continuing to investigate the incident and the male will be facing charges,” Cpl. Andy Kerr, with Enfield RCMP, said.

- RCMP responded to a break-and-enter into a residence on Kali lane, in Elmsdale, Feb. 4, at 7:07 p.m. The homeowner returned home to find entry to the residence had been gained through their patio door and that jewellery and cash were missing. Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
